Laos welcoming the rain!

It seems that we are destined to attend all celebrations in Asia, we did the Balinese new year, Thai new year and then we arrived in Laos for the rainy season celebration. It is called Boung Bang Fang and it’s celebrated by launching home made rockets to the sky to provoque the rain to come. If a rocket doesn’t work and is not launched, they will take the gun power and spread it in the face of the makers. It’s a great party that brings the community together.

The party lasts all day, there is music and everyone is happy, there are huge amounts of food and alcohol! In the afternoon the women will have their moment of celebration and will tour the town with a music track dancing and stopping in every house for a song.

The celebration is over once the night comes and everyone goes home to rest and start the daily routine on the following day.
